Captain Lance
OOC Information
Name: Cami
Age: early 30s
Pref. Pronouns: she/her
Contact:
eolasemah, Cafiffle#2173 on Discord
Current characters: Finian Lanson, Ben Carver, this guy
IC Information
Name/Alias: Saoirleanbh, or Seirlannof, aka Lance, aka Captain Lance
Age: early 40s
Occupation: Captain of the Northcliff Pass Watch
Born with The Vice?: No
If yes, do they use it?: n/a
Appearance: Of moderate size, perhaps a bit leaner than is healthy for his frame, with permanent furrow lines on his brow and bags under his eyes from never getting enough sleep. Always in his Watch colors, being seen in plainclothes usually means he's ill or something else is wrong.
History: Captain Lance's history is unknown to most of the younger villagers, which is the way he likes it; the older ones may know a thing or two, but are blessedly silent on the matter.
What can be gleaned via cultural osmosis is that he is originally from very far away, was once married to a girl in town, and does not want to talk about that or anything else.
Personality: Taciturn, either grouchy or very shy, perhaps both. Terrible in social situations, driven by various anxieties to tirelessly, obsessively patrol; he can be reined in if one takes the walk with him, but even then he's unlikely to say much.
If nothing else, he is extremely (and extreme is the only appropriate word) dedicated to the Watch, the defense of the town, and the safety of its people. Allegedly there is a softer Lance beneath the sour-faced fidgeting automaton, but few have seen it.
Abilities: Prowess with a bow, competence with a shortsword, passable literacy, great speed at a full sprint (although his endurance isn't what it used to be), CONSTANT VIGILANCE
Reputation: Most know better than to try to have a conversation with the Captain, but there are a few known to have his ear: his son, Finian; the Magistrate, Emery Ward; and his Lieutenant, Deron. He is gentle with women, children, and the less fortunate, but is known to be capable of alarming ruthlessness when dealing with threats.
In general, it is best not to bother him-- but nine times out of ten, doing so will result only in awkwardness and no harm to anyone otherwise.
